Thai keyboard converter: foydalanish tartibi

  1. 1

    Paste the English-letter text

Paste something like l;ylfu or -v[86I; with English to Thai already chosen, สวัสดี and ขอบคุณ appear beside it.

  2. 2

    Fix English typed in Thai

Paste Thai characters that should have been English, such as ้ำสสน; the page reads them as keys and shows hello.

  3. 3

    Fix only the wrong part

If a message mixes correct Thai with a run of gibberish, switch on “Convert only the words that look wrong”. Thai has no spaces between words, so this works only when a space separates the wrong part.

  4. 4

    Copy the Thai

Copy the corrected text into LINE, a document or a form.

Thai keyboard converter haqida

In Thailand the mix-up has its own name, พิมพ์ผิดภาษา: you start typing and the screen fills with l;ylfu8iy[ because the keyboard was still on English. This page undoes it on Kedmanee, the standard layout Windows installs for Thai, opening with English (US) as the layout the text was typed on and Thai as the one you meant.

Kedmanee fits 44 consonants, the vowels and four tone marks onto the same keys as QWERTY, so even the number row carries letters: 4 is ภ, 8 is ค, 9 is ต, 0 is จ and - is ข, while Shift on the number keys gives most of the Thai digits. Digits in Thai gibberish are therefore converted too, and -v[86I becomes ขอบคุณ. Vowels written above or below a consonant, such as ั ี ุ, are typed after the consonant, the same order Unicode stores them in, so the result can be pasted anywhere.

The opposite also works: English typed while Thai was on, such as ้ำสสน, is spotted and turned back into hello. A reading that would leave a vowel or tone mark with no consonant under it counts as unlikely, which keeps Thai apart from other scripts when the text is short.

The Pattachote layout is not covered. Western digits inside Thai text, which normally come from the numeric keypad, stay as they are when Thai is turned back into English, and Thai has no capitals, so English recovered from Thai has only the capitals that sit on Shift keys.

Maxfiylik

Your Thai and English text is converted by this page alone and never sent to a server. The Thai page saves its own draft and chosen layouts in this browser's local storage, separate from the other converter pages; press Clear to remove the draft.

Thai keyboard converter: koʻp beriladigan savollar

What is พิมพ์ผิดภาษา and how is it fixed?
It is Thai for text typed with the wrong input language, usually Thai words that came out as English letters, like l;ylfu for สวัสดี. The fix is to read each key again on the other layout. This page does that for Kedmanee and QWERTY in both directions without translating anything, so names and spelling stay as you typed them.
Why are numbers in my text turned into Thai letters?
On Kedmanee the number keys type letters and vowels: 1 is ๅ, 4 is ภ, 5 is ถ, 8 is ค, 9 is ต and 0 is จ. If you typed Thai with English on, those digits stand for Thai letters, so they are converted too. For a real number in the same text, use “Convert only the words that look wrong”, which leaves stand-alone numbers alone.
Does it support the Pattachote layout?
No. Only Kedmanee is built in, because it is the layout Windows installs for Thai and the one most people learn. Pattachote arranges the letters by how often they are used and differs on almost every key, so text typed on it would come out as the wrong Thai letters here.
Why does ้ำสสน turn into hello?
Those are the Thai characters on the keys h, e, l, l and o: ้ is on h, ำ on e, ส on l and น on o. When English is typed with Thai switched on, this is what appears. The page notices that it makes no sense as Thai, because the tone mark ้ has no consonant to sit on, and reads the keys as English.
Are Thai digits and the baht sign converted?
Yes. They are Shift characters: ๑ to ๔ sit on Shift with 2 to 5, ๕ to ๙ on Shift with 8, 9, 0, - and =, ๐ on Shift+Q and ฿ on Shift+7. Converting Thai to English turns them into what those keys type on a US keyboard, so ๑๒๓ becomes @#$.
