What runs locally and what needs a server
Document tools such as invoices and resumes build the file in your browser; client names, prices and personal details are not uploaded. Some features can only work with a server: a short link has to redirect from our domain, an uptime monitor has to check your site while your computer is off, and domain availability has to be looked up online. Those tools are labelled as server-side on their pages and explain exactly what is stored and for how long.
Free core, Pro for hosted features
Everything you need to make a document is free. Hosted features that cost money to run, such as dynamic QR codes that you can edit after printing, click analytics for short links, and frequent uptime checks with alerts, are part of the Pro plan, and their pages state the free limits in numbers.
Getting documents right
Before sending an invoice, check that your business details, tax rate and currency match what your client expects, and keep the PDF for your own records. For QR codes that will be printed, test them with two different phones and keep a quiet margin around the code. Short links and monitors are tied to an edit key stored in your browser, so keep it safe if you want to change them later. Barcodes for retail products need a number registered with GS1; the generator draws the bars, but it cannot issue the number for you.
