About Minguo year converter
Taiwan dates official papers in the Minguo calendar, 民國紀年, which counts years from 1912, the founding of the Republic of China. ID cards, household registration, tax notices, invoices, bank statements and school certificates write 民國115年10月21日 where a foreign form expects 21 October 2026. Months and days are Gregorian, so the conversion only touches the year: Western year minus 1911 gives the Minguo year, and Minguo year plus 1911 gives it back.
The converter takes a Minguo year, month and day and returns the Western date with its weekday, the Chinese and Korean lunar dates and nine other calendars. It also handles years before the Republic, written 民國前 in Taiwan: 1911 is 民國前1年 and 1900 is 民國前12年. Pick Before ROC in the year-count list for those, which matters for old land deeds and genealogy records.
The chart lists Minguo years 1 to 150 (1912 to 2061) with the Western year, the age a person born that year reaches this year and the zodiac animal, 生肖, of that year. The animal changes at Lunar New Year, not on 1 January, so the chart gives the date the animal starts: someone born on 10 February 2026 is still a Snake, because the Year of the Horse began on 17 February.
Dates in documents printed in mainland China, Hong Kong or Macau use the Western year, so they need no conversion.

Minguo years are converted by arithmetic inside this page, and the chart is part of the page itself; nothing you enter, such as a date from an ID card, is uploaded. The browser keeps only the last date you used, in its local storage.
