About Circle crop image
A circle crop cuts a round area out of a rectangular image and makes everything outside it transparent. The result is a square PNG whose side equals the circle's diameter: crop a 4000 × 3000 photo with the circle at full size and you get a 3000 × 3000 image with four transparent corners. Because PNG keeps the alpha channel, the round picture sits cleanly on any background, which is what you need for a website team page, a presentation slide, an email signature, a forum avatar or a round logo badge.
The circle is always drawn at the original resolution, with smooth anti-aliased edges. You decide what goes inside it by dragging, and how much of the picture it covers with the size slider, from 10% to 100% of the shorter side. A ring can be added around the crop in any colour and thickness, with a soft shadow, which is a popular style for profile pictures. You can also fill the corners with a solid colour instead of transparency and save a JPG, for places that don't accept PNG.
Social networks such as Instagram, LinkedIn, X and Telegram show profile pictures as circles but expect a square upload and apply the round mask themselves. For them, a square crop works better than a transparent circle, because transparent corners may turn black or white after upload. To remove the background behind a person first, or to make a profile photo with a coloured backdrop in the right size for each network, use the profile photo maker.

Cropping happens on a canvas in your own browser and the PNG is encoded on your device, so the picture is never sent to a server and isn't kept after you leave.
