About Merge PDF

The output is one PDF holding the pages you picked, in the order shown in the file list or the Pages view. Pages are copied object by object with pdf-lib instead of being re-rendered, so text stays selectable, embedded fonts stay embedded and photos keep their original compression. Links that jump to another page of the same document still work, fillable form fields stay fillable (fields with clashing names are renamed), and each source file can get its own bookmark in the reader's sidebar. Document properties of the inputs, such as title and author, and their own bookmark trees are not copied, and any password on an input is gone in the merged copy.

Common jobs: putting a cover letter, CV and certificates into a single application file; joining monthly statements or invoices for an accountant; collecting pages that a scanner saved as separate files; and preparing a stack for duplex printing, where the double-sided option inserts a blank page after every document with an odd page count so the next one starts on a front side.

Merging does not edit what is printed on a page, shrink the file or straighten a crooked scan; rotation turns whole pages in 90° steps. A digitally signed input will no longer validate after merging, because the result is a new file. If the combined PDF is too big to send, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.

Privacy

Thumbnails and page counts come from PDF.js, and the merge itself runs pdf-lib in a Web Worker inside this tab, so your PDFs are read into memory and never uploaded. Locked or damaged files are handled by qpdf compiled to WebAssembly, a 1.3 MB engine fetched from this site only when such a file is added. PDF.js may fetch font maps from the jsDelivr CDN for some documents; those requests carry nothing from your files.

Features

Stays on your device

pdf-lib assembles the new file in a background worker in your browser. Nothing to install, no sign-up.

Drag, drop, reorder

Reorder files and pages with drag and drop, keyboard arrows or the up and down buttons, on desktop and mobile.

Pick page ranges

Include only certain pages from each document, for example 1-3, 7 or 10-.

Rotate and remove pages

Fix sideways scans and drop blank or unwanted pages in the Pages view before merging.

Bookmarks, links and forms

Adds a bookmark per file, keeps internal links pointing to the right pages and keeps form fields fillable.

Double-sided printing

Optionally inserts a blank page after documents with an odd page count so each one starts on a front side.

Merge PDF: frequently asked questions

Does merging keep bookmarks and links?
Links that jump to another page of the same document keep working, and links to pages you left out are disabled instead of pulling those pages in. The bookmark trees inside the original files are not carried over. With Bookmark each file switched on, the merged PDF gets one bookmark per source file, named after it, so you can jump between documents from the reader's sidebar.
Can I merge only some pages from each PDF?
Yes. Click Choose pages under a file and type the pages to keep, for example 1-3, 5, or 8- for page 8 to the end. For finer control, switch to the Pages view, where every page of every file is a thumbnail you can drag to a new place, rotate by 90 degrees or delete. After you edit pages there, the file order is locked until you reset the arrangement.
Can I combine password-protected PDFs?
Yes, as long as you know the password. A locked file shows a password box; the password is checked on your device and the file is decrypted locally with qpdf. Files that only restrict printing or copying open without asking. The merged PDF has no password at all, so lock it again with Protect PDF if the content is sensitive.
Will the merged file be bigger or lower in quality?
Quality stays the same because pages are copied rather than re-rendered: text remains selectable and images are not recompressed. The size is roughly the total of the pages you kept. Fonts or logos that appear in several input files are stored once per file, so the result can be slightly larger than expected. If it is too big for email, run it through Compress PDF.
How many files can I merge for free?
The free plan combines up to 10 PDFs of up to 50 MB each, with at most 200 pages in the finished document, and never adds a watermark. When you go over a limit, a message names the limit you hit and your current files stay in place. Pro raises the limits to 500 files, 4 GB per file and 5,000 pages per merge.
