How to use SVG ↔ PNG converter

  1. 1

    Load the SVG

Drop one or more .svg files, paste SVG markup anywhere on the page, or type it into the code box and press Render SVG.

  2. 2

    Pick the output size

Choose 1×, 2×, 4× or 8× the SVG's own size, or type an exact width of up to 16,384 pixels; the height follows.

  3. 3

    Choose format and background

PNG keeps a transparent background; JPG and WebP get a quality slider, and any format can be filled with a colour.

  4. 4

    Download

Save the PNG, named after the file and its size such as logo-512x512.png, or every file at once as svg-to-png.zip.

Limits and Pro

SVG to PNG: as many SVG files as you like, each exported at up to 16,384 px per side and 120 megapixels. PNG to SVG: one image of up to 25 MB at a time.

Pro lifts the PNG to SVG input limit to files of up to 4 GB. See Pro

About SVG ↔ PNG converter

SVG to PNG turns vector graphics into ordinary pixel images. The browser's own SVG engine draws the file directly at the size you ask for, so an 8× export of a 64-pixel icon is a sharp 512-pixel image rather than an enlarged, blurry one. The output size comes from the SVG's width and height attributes, with units such as mm, pt or in converted at 96 pixels per inch, or from its viewBox when no size is given. PNG output keeps full alpha transparency and is optimised losslessly with OxiPNG; JPG has no transparency and is filled with white unless you pick another colour. The preview updates as you change settings, so you see the exact result before downloading.

You need a PNG wherever SVG isn't accepted: social media and messaging apps, Word and PowerPoint on older versions, email signatures, app store listings and many website builders. Exporting at 2× or 4× also gives crisp images for high-density phone screens.

Because the SVG is rendered as a standalone image, it can't fetch anything from the internet: linked images and web fonts referenced by URL don't load, and text falls back to a font installed on your device. Embed fonts and pictures as data URIs, or convert text to outlines, before exporting. Scripts and animations don't run, so you get a single still frame. The PNG to SVG tab does the reverse and traces a picture into vector paths.

Privacy

Rendering happens in your browser's built-in SVG engine and the image is encoded by jSquash WebAssembly codecs in a Web Worker in this tab, loaded from this site only after you add a file. The SVG markup and the exported images stay on your device; nothing is uploaded, and the renderer itself can't make network requests on the SVG's behalf.

Features

Sharp at any size

Vectors are re-rendered at the output resolution — export 1×, 2×, 4×, 8× or an exact pixel width.

Transparent background

PNG and WebP keep transparency; or fill the background with any color.

Paste SVG code

Paste markup straight from your editor or design tool — no file needed.

Batch export

Convert a whole icon set with the same settings and download a ZIP.

PNG to SVG too

Switch tabs to trace a PNG or JPG logo into clean vector paths.

SVG ↔ PNG converter: frequently asked questions

How do I convert an SVG to PNG with a transparent background?
Leave the format on PNG and the Background on Transparent, which are the defaults, and download. Every area the SVG doesn't paint stays fully transparent in the PNG, and semi-transparent fills and soft edges keep their alpha values. JPG can't store transparency, so with JPG the empty areas are filled with white or the colour you choose under Background.
What size should I export my SVG at?
For a website, export at 2× the size it will be displayed, for example 600 pixels wide for a 300-pixel slot, so it stays sharp on high-density screens. App icons and store listings usually ask for 512 or 1024 pixels square. For print, multiply the width in inches by 300. Because the vector is redrawn at every size, larger exports never get blurry, only bigger.
Why do the fonts or images in my SVG look wrong?
An SVG drawn as an image can't download anything, so fonts linked from Google Fonts or another server, and pictures referenced by URL, are missing; the text uses a font installed on your device instead. Open the file in your design app and convert text to outlines or paths, or embed the fonts and images as base64 data, then export the SVG again and render it here.
Can I convert several SVG files at once?
Yes. Drop as many SVG files as you like; they appear in a list and the selected one is previewed. The size, format and background settings apply to all of them, so a whole icon set can be exported at 4× in one go. The download button then creates svg-to-png.zip, with each PNG named after its source file and its final pixel size.
Why is the PNG a different size than I expected?
The base size comes from the SVG's width and height attributes, converted to pixels at 96 per inch, and the scale multiplies it. If the SVG has only a viewBox, its numbers are used as pixels; with neither, browsers assume 300 × 150. To get an exact result regardless of the file, choose the px option and type the width you need; the height keeps the proportions.
