About Flip image
Flipping an image creates its mirror copy. A horizontal flip swaps left and right, as if you held the picture up to a mirror; a vertical flip swaps top and bottom, like a reflection in still water. Neither changes the size of the image or blends any pixels: each pixel simply moves to the opposite side, so the flipped copy is exactly as sharp as the original and has the same width and height.
The most common reason is a selfie. Front cameras often save the preview the way you saw it on screen, so text on a T-shirt or a sign reads backwards; one press of Mirror fixes it. Designers flip product photos so a person or object faces into the page instead of out of it, illustrators check a drawing's proportions by viewing it mirrored, and people preparing iron-on transfers or T-shirt prints mirror the design so it reads correctly after pressing. A vertical flip is useful for reflections, for scans placed upside down on the glass and for creative symmetry.
Mirroring isn't the same as rotating by 180°: a turned photo keeps writing readable when you hold it upside down, a flipped one doesn't. Combine both with the rotate buttons for any of the eight orientations. The file is encoded again in the format you pick, without the original EXIF data. This page edits one picture at a time; to apply a mirror effect to a whole batch you would need to open each image in turn.
Privacy
The image is flipped on a canvas inside your browser tab and encoded by WebAssembly codecs in a Web Worker on your device. It isn't uploaded and nothing is kept once you close the page.
