About Passport photo maker

Passport photo maker turns a portrait into the exact format a passport, visa or ID office asks for, with presets for 36 countries plus the Schengen visa and common generic sizes. The digital file is a JPEG at the specified pixel dimensions — 600 × 600 for a US passport, 413 × 531 for a 35 × 45 mm photo at 300 DPI — with its density field set to 300 DPI and, where an online form imposes a cap such as the US visa's 240 KB, the quality lowered until it fits. The print sheet places as many copies as fit on 4×6 in, 10×15 cm, 5×7 in, A4 or Letter paper with crop marks, as a JPG or as a PDF that prints at true scale.

A face detector locates your eyes, mouth and chin, a segmentation model outlines head and shoulders, and the tool levels your eyes and scales your head to the middle of the permitted height range. The original background is swapped for the colour the document expects — white, cream, light grey or light blue — and brightness or contrast can be nudged.

It cannot rescue a photo that breaks the rules in other ways: shadows across the face, a head turned away from the camera, closed eyes, banned glasses or a hat. Acceptance also depends on the officer and the latest regulations.

Privacy

Face detection (MediaPipe) and background replacement (an ORMBG segmentation model) both run locally in this browser tab, so your file never leaves your device — a sensible precaution for an identity photo. Only the detector and model files are downloaded; the purchase step records the order, never the picture.

Passport photo maker: frequently asked questions

Will my passport photo be accepted?
The tool applies each document's published size, head height, eye line and background rules, and its checklist flags a tilted head, an off-centre face, low resolution or a head that is too small. Acceptance still depends on the photo itself: sharp focus, even light without shadows, a neutral expression, open eyes and no glasses where they are banned. Check your issuing authority's current rules before submitting.
What size is a US passport photo?
A US passport photo is 2 × 2 inches (51 × 51 mm). The head, measured from the bottom of the chin to the top of the hair, must be 1 to 1⅜ inches (25–35 mm) tall, and the eyes must sit 1⅛ to 1⅜ inches above the bottom edge. Digital uploads use 600 × 600 pixels, and the background must be plain white or off-white.
How do I print the photo sheet correctly?
Download the sheet as JPG or PDF and print it at 100% or actual size with every fit-to-page option turned off; otherwise the photos shrink and become invalid. A 4×6 in sheet holds six 2 × 2 in or 35 × 45 mm photos and costs little at a pharmacy or photo kiosk. Cut along the crop marks with a ruler and a sharp craft knife.
How much does it cost and what do I get?
Making and checking your photo is free, and the on-screen preview carries a PREVIEW watermark. A single one-time payment of $2.99 unlocks the clean, full-resolution digital file together with the printable sheets for every paper size, with no subscription involved. Members of the Pro plan can download both without paying separately, as many times as they need.
Can I take the photo with my phone?
Yes. On a phone tap Take a selfie, or better, ask someone to photograph you from about 1.5 metres away at eye level, because arm's-length selfies distort the nose and chin. Stand half a metre in front of a light, plain wall while facing a window, keep hair away from your eyes, and the tool handles cropping, scaling and the background.
