About Resume builder

Resume builder lays your experience out in one of three single-column templates: Classic in a serif face with a centred header, Modern in a sans-serif with an accent color for your name and section titles, and Compact with tighter spacing for long careers. Every template uses plain section names such as Experience and Education, puts dates on the same line as each job title, and draws the PDF top to bottom in a single reading order. That matters because applicant tracking systems extract the text before a recruiter sees your design, and multi-column layouts, text boxes or images of text often come out scrambled.

The PDF embeds open fonts (Tinos, Arimo or Carlito), and names written in other scripts such as Arabic, Hebrew, Devanagari, Chinese or Japanese get matching Noto fonts. Long resumes continue onto a second page with your name and page number in the footer. The plain-text export follows the same section order and is the safest version to paste into online application forms.

Where it's switched on, an optional button beside each bullet asks Claude, Anthropic's AI model, for three rewrites that start with an action verb and leave placeholders like [X%] instead of inventing numbers. You choose whether to use one. The builder doesn't write a resume from scratch, track applications or produce cover letters, and it can't guarantee that a particular employer's system will rank you.

Privacy

Everything you type is kept in this browser's local storage and the PDF is built on your device; nothing is uploaded when you edit or download. The only exception is the optional AI suggestion button: when you press it, that one bullet and the job title are sent to our server and to Anthropic's API to generate suggestions, and the text is not stored.

Features

One reading order

Single-column PDFs with real text, drawn top to bottom so parsers and copy-paste keep the order.

Reorder and hide sections

Seven sections you can move or hide, and jobs, schools and projects you can reorder inside them.

Optional AI rewrites

Three suggestions per bullet that never invent numbers, shown only when the feature is set up.

Resume builder: frequently asked questions

What makes a resume ATS-friendly?
Applicant tracking systems read the text layer of your file, so keep one column, standard headings like Experience, Education and Skills, real text rather than images, and dates next to each role. Avoid tables, text boxes, icons for contact details and headers or footers holding key information. Use the job ad's wording for skills you genuinely have, because many systems match keywords.
Is the resume builder free?
Writing, editing, reordering sections, previewing every template and exporting plain text are free with no account. Downloading the designed PDF is a one-time $4.99, after which PDF downloads stay unlocked in this browser, and the Pro plan includes them. Payments are in test mode at the moment, so the button simulates the purchase.
How does the AI bullet suggestion work, and is my text stored?
When it's available, a sparkle button appears beside each bullet. Pressing it sends only that bullet, cut to 400 characters, and the job title to our server, which asks Anthropic's API for three rewrites and returns them to you. Nothing is saved on our side. Suggestions keep your facts and mark missing numbers as placeholders for you to fill in.
Should my resume be one page or two?
One page suits students and people with under about ten years of relevant experience; two pages are normal for senior roles, academic CVs often run longer, and recruiters rarely read a third. Try the Compact template before cutting content, drop roles older than fifteen years unless they matter for the job, and keep bullets to one or two lines each.
Where is my resume saved?
In your browser's local storage on this device, updated as you type, so it's still there when you come back. It isn't synced to other devices or kept on our server, and clearing browsing data or using a private window removes it. Download the plain-text file or the PDF to keep a copy you can reopen anywhere.
