計算方法
tax = net × rate · gross = net + tax
Adding tax to a price before tax.
net = gross ÷ (1 + rate) · tax = gross − net
Taking tax out of a price that includes it.

Amounts are kept in whole cents (or the currency's smallest unit) and the rate is applied exactly, so the only rounding is the one you choose for the tax. When you take tax out of a price, the tax amount is the figure that gets rounded and the net is what is left.

A tax with several parts, such as India's CGST and SGST or Canada's GST and QST, is rounded part by part. Indonesia's PPN for ordinary goods is 12% of a base worth 11/12 of the price, which is 11% of the price.

VAT calculator について

This calculator works in both directions: it adds VAT to a net price, or it takes VAT out of a price that already includes it — the reverse calculation Italians call scorporo IVA and Japanese shoppers know as 税込 to 税抜. You get the net amount, the tax and the gross amount side by side, each with its own copy button, and a line underneath that repeats the sum with your numbers filled in.

The rate tables cover 79 countries, each named the way people there say it: MwSt in Germany, TVA in France, IVA in Spain and Mexico, НДС in Russia, ПДВ in Ukraine, KDV in Türkiye, PPN in Indonesia, QQS in Uzbekistan and 消費税 in Japan. Every country lists its standard and reduced rates, most with examples of what they cover, plus the date they were checked and a link to the tax authority or to the EU and PwC summaries we checked them against. Temporary rates, such as Vietnam's 8% or Thailand's 7%, show their end date. The United States has no VAT, so picking it switches to state sales tax plus a local rate.

Amounts are kept in the currency's smallest unit, so yen, won and rupiah have no decimals, and you choose how the tax is rounded: half up, down (the usual 切り捨て in Japan) or up. Invoice lines let you mix standard and reduced items and see the tax per rate.

It cannot tell you which rate your product falls under, handle exemptions, reverse charge or cross-border rules, or replace advice from an accountant.

プライバシー

Everything is calculated by this page in your browser, and the rate tables ship with the page, so no amount, rate or invoice line is sent to a server or looked up online. Your last inputs stay in this browser's local storage; the amount, country and rate (never the invoice lines) also go into the page address so a copied link reproduces the result.

VAT calculator:よくある質問

How do I remove VAT from a price that includes it?
Divide the gross price by one plus the rate, don't subtract the percentage. A price of €119 including 19% German MwSt is 119 ÷ 1.19 = €100 net, so the tax is €19. Taking 19% off 119 would give 96.39, which is wrong because the 19% was charged on the net price, not on the total. Choose “Remove” and the calculator does the division for you.
Why can adding and then removing VAT change the result by a cent?
Tax is rounded to the currency's smallest unit, so some gross prices cannot come from any whole-cent net price. In Japan, for example, ¥1,000 including 10% tax rounded down gives ¥90 tax and ¥910 net, while ¥910 plus 10% rounded down is ¥1,001. The calculator rounds the tax, shows the figure before rounding in the formula, and lets you pick half up, down or up.
How current are the VAT rates?
Each country's rates were checked on 21 October 2026 against its tax authority, the EU's Taxes in Europe Database or PwC's Worldwide Tax Summaries, and the source is linked under the rates. Recent changes are included, such as Russia's 22% and Kazakhstan's 16% from January 2026. Temporary rates show their end date, and a warning appears if that date has passed.
Which rate applies to what I am selling?
The calculator lists what each reduced rate typically covers, such as food, books or passenger transport, but it cannot classify a product for you. The detailed rules depend on the exact item and sometimes on how it is sold: in Japan, food eaten in a restaurant is taxed at 10% but the same meal taken away is 8%. Check the tax authority's list or ask an accountant when unsure.
Can I work out an invoice with items at different rates?
Yes. Choose Invoice lines, enter each item's description, amount and rate, and the table below adds up the net, tax and gross per rate and for the whole invoice. The tax is calculated once per rate on the sum of its lines, which is how an invoice's tax summary shows it and what Japan's qualified invoice rules require.
