Font maker haqida
Font maker turns your own handwriting into a font file you can install. Every key on the grid stands for one character: pick it, draw the letter on the canvas with a mouse, a finger or a stylus, and step on to the next key. Dashed lines mark the cap height, x-height and descender, a solid line marks the baseline, and a faint reference letter shows where that character usually sits, so capitals, small letters and tails line up from one key to the next.
For the preview and the download, each drawing is rasterized at 500 × 600 pixels and traced into closed vector outlines, with counters such as the inside of an O kept open. The outlines are smoothed and written into an OpenType .otf file with PostScript (CFF) curves at 1,000 units per em. A letter is as wide as its ink plus the letter spacing you set on each side, and it keeps the height you drew it at, so a g drawn below the baseline hangs below the line of text too. The file also holds a space and the empty .notdef box that some apps draw for characters the font lacks.
People use it for a personal handwriting font on invitations, cards and school worksheets, to turn a child's alphabet into a keepsake, to sketch logo lettering, or to letter comic speech bubbles.
The result has one style, Regular. There are no kerning pairs, ligatures or hinting, accented letters such as é or ü aren't on the grid, and the outlines follow your strokes exactly instead of being redrawn by a type designer, so shaky lines stay shaky.
Maxfiylik
The strokes, the tracing and the font file are all handled inside this page: a Web Worker turns the drawings into outlines and opentype.js writes the .otf, so no drawing or font is sent to a server. The project is stored in this browser's IndexedDB (or local storage) until you press Start over or clear the site's data, and an exported project file goes only where you save it.
