Mute videoの使い方

  1. 1

    Drop the video

Add one MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or AVI file of up to 500 MB and 10 minutes. Its length, resolution and audio codec appear under the player.

  2. 2

Choose what happens to the sound

Remove takes the audio track out completely, Lower turns it down to a level between 0 and 95%, and Mute a part silences only the stretch you mark.

  3. 3

    Check it in the player

The preview follows your choice: it plays silently, at the lower level, or goes quiet between the two times you set with the playhead buttons.

  4. 4

    Save the new file

Press the button and download name-muted.mp4 (or -quieter, -muted-part); the container stays the same as the original whenever it can.

Mute video について

Mute video gives you a copy of a clip with the sound changed and the picture left exactly as it was. Removing the audio is a remux: the video stream's packets are copied into a new file without the audio track, so a 10-minute 1080p recording is done in seconds and loses nothing. Lowering the volume or silencing a section has to re-encode the sound, but only the sound: the tool decodes it, multiplies the samples by the level you chose (with a 12-millisecond fade at the edges of a muted part so it doesn't click) and encodes it again as AAC for MP4 and MOV, Opus for WebM and MP3 for AVI, at 160 kbps.

Typical uses are a screen recording with keyboard noise, a phone video with wind or a stranger's conversation, a clip with copyrighted music that a platform would block, or a background loop for a website that must autoplay silently. Setting the level to 0% instead of removing the track keeps a silent audio stream, which some apps and editors expect.

The tool handles the first video and audio track; extra language tracks and embedded subtitles are left out of the new file. It cannot separate a voice from music, cut the picture, or add a new soundtrack: it only removes, lowers or silences what is there.

プライバシー

The video is read from your disk and rewritten in this browser tab, by mediabunny with your browser's WebCodecs audio encoder or by ffmpeg.wasm in a Web Worker. No part of the file is uploaded or stored; the 31 MB ffmpeg engine is downloaded from jsDelivr only if your browser needs it.

主な機能

Lossless removal

Taking the sound out copies the picture as it is, so even long videos finish in seconds.

Turn it down

Set any level from 0 to 95% and hear it in the preview before saving.

Silence one stretch

Mark a start and end with the playhead and only that part goes quiet.

Same format back

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI files keep their container.

Mute video:よくある質問

Does removing the sound reduce the video quality?
No. When you choose Remove, the picture isn't decoded or encoded at all: its compressed frames are copied byte for byte into the new file, which simply has no audio track. The result looks identical to the original and is usually a little smaller, because the sound took up some of the space. That is also why it finishes in seconds even for long videos.
How do I mute only part of a video?
Pick Mute a part, play the video to where the unwanted sound starts and press Start at playhead, then do the same with End at playhead, or type the times as minutes and seconds. The preview goes quiet in that range so you can check it. Everything outside the range keeps its original sound; inside it the audio is silent.
What is the difference between removing the audio and setting it to 0%?
Removing deletes the audio track, so players show the video as having no sound at all. A 0% level keeps a silent track in the file. Most of the time removal is the better choice, but some editors, TV apps and upload forms reject or misbehave with video-only files, and a silent track keeps them happy.
Will my MOV or WebM file come back as MP4?
Only when it has to. The tool writes the same container as your file for MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI, as long as that container can hold the video codec, so an iPhone MOV stays a MOV. Other inputs such as WMV, FLV or MPEG-TS are saved as MP4, and their picture is re-encoded to H.264 if MP4 can't carry it.
Can I make the sound quieter without muting it?
Yes, choose Lower and drag the slider: 50% halves the signal, about 6 dB quieter, and 20% leaves it faintly audible, which works well for background music under a voice-over you'll add elsewhere. The level applies to the whole video. Only the audio is re-encoded at 160 kbps; the picture is copied untouched.
