Typing speed testの使い方

  1. 1

    Pick a test

Choose 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds, a fixed 10 to 100 words, or a quote; switch on punctuation or numbers for harder text.

  2. 2

    Type the text

Click the words and start typing. The clock begins with your first key, wrong letters turn red and the caret shows your place.

  3. 3

    Correct or move on

Backspace fixes the current word; on an empty word it steps back to an earlier word that still has a mistake. Space moves on.

  4. 4

    Read the result

See net and gross WPM, accuracy, consistency, your speed each second and the keys you missed most, then try again.

Typing speed test について

Typing test measures how fast and how cleanly you type, with the numbers typing courses and job adverts usually ask for. Gross WPM counts every character you typed, spaces and mistakes included, divided by five (the standard length of a "word") per minute. Net WPM then subtracts one word for each error still left in the text, so a fast but sloppy run scores lower than a slightly slower clean one. Accuracy is the share of correct keystrokes, including mistakes you went back and fixed, and consistency shows how steady your pace was from one second to the next.

Timed tests feed you random words for 15 seconds to two minutes; word-count tests stop when you finish the last word; quote mode gives you one passage from a classic book, speech or proverb. Thirteen languages are available: English, Uzbek, Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian and Japanese, which you type as romaji from kana text with the input method switched off. Letters are compared as you see them, so ё typed as е, oʻ typed as o' and, if you turn on "accents optional", plain vowels count as right.

After each test the keyboard heatmap colours the keys you should have pressed by how often you missed them, drawn on your language's layout (QWERTZ, AZERTY, ЙЦУКЕН, Turkish Q and others), which shows what to practise. Results are kept as a history in this browser. The tool offers tests rather than lessons or certificates.

プライバシー

The test runs entirely in this tab. Your keystrokes are compared with the text locally and are never sent to our server or anyone else, and nothing you type is stored except the summary of each result (date, test type, WPM, accuracy and consistency), which is kept in this browser's local storage until you clear the history.

Typing speed test:よくある質問

What is the difference between net WPM and gross WPM?
Gross WPM is raw speed: all characters you typed, including spaces and mistakes, divided by five and by the minutes taken. Net WPM subtracts one word per minute for every error left uncorrected, such as wrong, extra or skipped letters. If you type 60 gross words in one minute and leave four mistakes, your net speed is 56 WPM.
How is accuracy calculated, and why can it be lower than expected?
Accuracy is correct keystrokes divided by all character keystrokes, and it remembers mistakes you corrected. Type a wrong letter, delete it and type the right one, and the word ends up perfect, but one of your two keystrokes was wrong. That is why accuracy can sit below 100 percent even when every word in the final text is correct.
Where do the practice words and quotes come from?
Every word list was chosen by us for this tool: 200 everyday English words and roughly 160 to 210 per other language, all released into the public domain. Quotes come from works old enough to be public domain, such as Pride and Prejudice, Don Quijote, Anna Karenina and Kafka's Metamorphosis, or are traditional proverbs, with the source shown under each passage.
Does the typing test work on a phone or with an IME keyboard?
Mostly. The test reads what lands in a text field rather than raw key presses, so touch keyboards, dead keys and AltGr work; autocorrect and capitalisation are switched off where the browser allows. Swipe typing inserts whole words at once, which inflates speed. Chinese or Korean input is scored after each composition is committed, and Japanese is typed as romaji with the input method switched off.
What counts as a good typing speed?
Many people who type every day land somewhere around 35 to 50 net WPM, 60 or more is fast, and competitive typists exceed 100. Accuracy matters as much as speed: aim for 95 percent or better before pushing the pace. Short 15-second tests flatter everyone, so compare yourself on the same test length over several days.
