Mouse test: clicks, polling rate and DPI

Check every mouse button for double-click chatter, test the scroll wheel, and measure the polling rate and real DPI of the sensor; the tests run in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Click every button and roll the wheel inside this box

Cómo usar Mouse tester

  1. 1

    Pick a test

Choose Buttons & wheel, Polling rate, DPI or Sensitivity from the tabs at the top of the test panel.

  2. 2

Click and scroll in the box

Press every button, back and forward included, and roll the wheel. Tested buttons change colour on the drawing and their press counts go up.

  3. 3

Move fast for the polling rate

Sweep the mouse in quick circles over the polling box; the average and peak rate settle within a few seconds.

  4. 4

Slide along a card for DPI

Press Start run, slide the mouse along a bank card or ruler and click at the far end. Do three runs or more and read the average.

  5. 5

    Turn it into cm/360

Enter your DPI and in-game sensitivity to see eDPI, the distance for a full turn, and the sensitivity to use after changing DPI.

Límites y Pro

Free without limits: five standard buttons plus any extra the browser reports, the wheel in all four directions, polling rate from the last 160,000 movement reports, an average of up to 10 DPI runs, and four games or any custom yaw in the calculator.

Acerca de Mouse tester

This mouse tester checks the hardware behind your pointer in four tabs. The button test lights up left, right, middle, back and forward on a drawing of a mouse, counts every press and times each one against the same button's previous press. Two presses closer than the threshold you choose (80 ms by default) are flagged as double-click chatter, the usual sign of a worn switch that turns one click into two. The same box records the scroll wheel: steps up, down and sideways, whether the browser reports them in pixels, lines or pages, and wrong-way jumps that happen while you scroll steadily in one direction.

The polling rate test timestamps every movement report the browser receives, from raw pointer updates or coalesced events where the browser has them, and shows the average and peak rate with a live chart. Only time spent moving counts, so pauses don't drag the number down.

The DPI analyzer locks the pointer and adds up the counts the sensor sends while you slide the mouse over a known distance, such as the 85.6 mm long edge of a bank card. Chrome and Edge are asked for raw counts that skip your pointer speed and acceleration settings; when a browser can't give them, the page warns you. Averaging several runs gives a figure to compare with the DPI on the box or in the mouse's own software, which is often a few percent off.

The sensitivity calculator turns DPI and in-game sensitivity into eDPI and centimetres per 360° turn for Counter-Strike 2, Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2, Quake III Arena or any game whose yaw you know.

A web page only sees what the mouse driver passes on, so buttons remapped to keyboard shortcuts in vendor software show up as keys, not clicks.

Privacidad

Clicks, wheel steps and pointer movement are measured by this page in your browser and never sent anywhere, so nothing about your mouse or how you use it leaves your device. Only your choices, such as the chatter threshold, reference distance and game values, are remembered in this browser's local storage.

Mouse tester: preguntas frecuentes

How do I test my mouse for double-click problems?
Open the Buttons & wheel tab and single-click each button at a normal pace inside the box. Every press is timed against the previous press of the same button, and two presses less than 80 ms apart are flagged, because people rarely click that fast on purpose. If single clicks keep showing up as doubles, the switch is likely worn or dirty. The slider moves the threshold.
How do I find the real DPI of my mouse?
Open the DPI tab, put the mouse against one end of a bank card or ruler, press Start run, slide to the other end and click. The tool divides the counts the sensor sent by the distance in inches. Repeat at least three times and use the average. Sensors are often a few percent away from the advertised value, and this measurement shows by how much.
What polling rate does my mouse have?
Move the mouse quickly in circles over the polling rate box for a few seconds. The page timestamps each movement report and shows the average, the peak over 100 ms windows and the nearest standard rate, such as 500 or 1000 Hz. Slow movement reads lower because a mouse only reports when it moves, and a heavily loaded computer can lower the figure too.
Why don't my back and forward buttons register?
Most mice send back and forward as the fourth and fifth buttons, which the test box records without leaving the page. If nothing lights up, your mouse software may have remapped them to a keyboard shortcut or another action, or the operating system may handle them before the browser sees them. Check the button assignments in the mouse's app, then test again.
What are eDPI and cm/360?
eDPI is your DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity, a quick way to compare setups between players of the same game. cm/360 is how far the mouse travels for one full turn; it also includes the game's yaw, so it compares across games. Counter-Strike 2 and the other games listed turn 0.022 degrees per count at sensitivity 1, and you can enter another game's yaw yourself.
